    Academic Excellence Indicator System

    • Comprehensive reporting system defined by state statute
    • Published annually since 1990-91
    • Gives parents and community a snapshot of District/Campus Performance (Section I), District/Campus Profile (Section II), and District Bilingual/English as a Second Language (Section III)
    • Contains all data used to determine District/Campus accountability rating
    • Uses data collected through the state data reporting system (PEIMS) and the student assessment system

    Adequate Yearly Progress

    • Created by No Child Left Behind, a federal program
    • Ratified by Congress in December 2001 and Signed by President Bush on January 8, 2002
    • Measures used to determine AYP: Reading, Math, Attendance Rate, Graduation Rate
    • Uses data collected through the state data reporting system (PEIMS) and the student assessment system
    • Federal standards are different than state standards

    FitnessGram®

    • FITNESSGRAM® tests are taken by students annually in grades 3-12
    • The FITNESSGRAM® tool was created by The Cooper Institute of Dallas
    • The six types of assessment measure five areas - body composition, aerobic capacity, muscular strength, endurance and flexibility. The assessments determine whether students are in a “healthy fitness zone” for their age and gender
    • The 2007-2008 school year was the first time students were assessed statewide using the FITNESSGRAM®

    Graduates Enrolled in Public Higher Ed

    • Report produced by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board in coordination with the Texas Education Agency
    • Includes only students enrolled in the Fall term in Texas higher education institutions

    Highly Qualified Teacher Reports

    • The No Child Left Behind Act of 2001 states that any teacher hired after the first day of the 2002-2003 school year to teach in a Title I, Part A program must be "highly qualified"
    • All local educational agencies (LEAs) must have a plan to ensure that all teachers in the LEA teaching in core academic subjects are "highly qualified"
