Liberty Hill ISD Media Information and Request Guidelines
Liberty Hill is a closed district. All media requests must go through the Office of Communications.
Calling administrators or campuses will delay the transmission of information you or your reporters need to do their job. You may contact the Communications Office at (512) 260-5580.
Please call as early in the school day as possible with a request. There is a lot of coordination required to accommodate the media where we have students.
Our campus hours are:
- Elementary (Pre-K-4) -- 7:30 a.m. to 3:00 pm
- Intermediate (5-6) -- 7:40am to 3:40 pm
- Secondary (7-12) -- 7:50 a.m. to 4:00 pm
If you are working on something that comes up at 1 p.m., there is a good chance we won't be able to get into any buildings by the end of the school day.
Media is not allowed on our campuses or in our buildings without authorization from or the presence of the Communication Director or Superintendent. We do not, generally, allow spontaneous interviews with students, staff, or parents. If you need a student or staff film, contact the Communications Director to arrange it. Parent interviews can be obtained from any public place OTHER than a Liberty Hill ISD campus. We do this for two reasons:
- Media on campus is an enormous distraction to staff that disrupts the function of our educational process. I will work with any media partner to get you what you need without causing that distraction.
- We are required, by law, to ensure any child interviewed OR photographed has a current media authorization for their safety.
These guidelines extend to school buses or other forms of District Transportation. The media is not allowed to board a bus to talk with students, staff, or parents, even if a Liberty Hill ISD bus or vehicle is not on our campus.
If the Communication Director is out of the office, all media requests should go to the Superintendent's office. Please contact Donna Cox at (512) 260-5580.
Above all, communication is a priority of Liberty Hill ISD. We will make every effort to work with the media to ensure a positive and successful partnership. I look forward to working with you, feel free to contact the Communication Office with any questions or ideas.
