Meet our Principal

  • Mrs. Terrie Chambers

Photo of Mrs. Chambers I am extremely proud to be a Panther, and I believe that I help bring rich experiences to Bill Burden Elementary and the community.  My career in education began as a HS science teacher and coach in far west Texas. The next phase brought more opportunities, as well as a growing family.  Teaching and coaching continued spanning multiple disciplines at the HS, middle and elementary levels. My leadership service includes serving in multiple districts as curriculum department head, special education coordinator, assistant principal, and principal.

I grew up in Georgetown receiving my Bachelor of Science degree from Sul Ross State University.  I began my graduate work at the University of Texas in Science Education, however I completed my Masters in Educational Leadership from Texas Tech University.

Special education, reading, and behavior supports remain my passions.  In addition to being an educator, I am the mom of four grown sons and a recent grandmother. My time  is filled with devotion to service, and family adventures.

Image of Assistant Principal Elizabeth DeFrancisis Welcome to Bill Burden Elementary School!  I am so happy to be serving our community in the capacity of Assistant Principal. It is my pleasure to help lead Burden students forward in their academic, social, and emotional goals.

Originally from the Detroit area, I earned my BS in Microbiology from Michigan State University, and began my teaching career in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, teaching Biology and Chemistry.  I moved to the Austin area in 2008 and taught Biology at East View HS in Georgetown. Upon completion of my Master of Education in Administration from Lamar University, my husband, also an educator, and I spent a year as department heads and teachers in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.  I returned to Texas in the department of Curriculum and Instruction for Tyler ISD from 2013-2016, before having the pleasure of joining Liberty Hill ISD as Assistant Principal at Bill Burden Elementary.

As Assistant Principal, I am here to support student growth and development by facilitating a safe and respectful school environment, where all students will receive the best possible academic instruction. My goal is to empower students to take ownership of their learning, to think critically, and work together to solve problems.  These skills will enable them to be successful now as well as in their future career. I am proud to be a part of the Bill Burden Elementary community, where our students can learn and grow in a supportive environment.
