• Renewal of the LHISD District of Innovation Plan

LHISD is renewing our current District of Innovation Plan to provide the district with the local control and flexibility which will benefit our students, staff, and community.  Liberty Hill ISD has had a District of Innovation Plan in place since the 2017-18 school year.

House Bill (HB) 1842, passed during the 84th Legislative Session, permits Texas public school districts to become Districts of Innovation and to obtain an exemption from certain provisions of the Texas Education Code. To qualify, an eligible school district must adopt a five-year innovation plan according to the Texas Education Code.  This bill allows traditional public schools to have some of the same local flexibility that public charter schools have always been allowed.

As part of this renewal process, our District Education Improvement Committee (DEIC) has met, reviewed our district of innovation plan, and has approved the renewal of the plan.  Please click on the LHISD District of Innovation Plan for specific details. Additionally, we are posting the proposed renewed District of Innovation Plan on our website for at least 30 days prior to the Board's adoption of the plan on May 16, 2022.  During this time parents, staff, and community members can provide us with any feedback they may have about the plan.  If you have any feedback or questions, please contact the district at the email address provided below.

Once approved by the Commissioner of Education, the Board of Trustees, and the District of Innovation Committee, this readopted plan will go into effect for the 2022-23 school year. This plan may be amended at any time by the committee with the approval of the Board of Trustees and will remain in effect for five years.
