Superintendent
Travis Motal serves as Superintendent of Liberty Hill Independent School District, bringing more than 23 years of experience in public education. He is known for his commitment to student achievement, fiscal responsibility, and strong community partnerships while leading a rapidly growing district.
Before being named superintendent, Mr. Motal served in several leadership roles in Liberty Hill ISD, including Interim Superintendent, Chief of Schools, Director of Secondary Education and Principal of Liberty Hill Junior High. Prior to joining the district, he served as a principal in Taylor ISD. In 2020, he was named Region 13 Middle School Principal of the Year by the Texas Association of Secondary School Principals.
Mr. Motal holds a Master of Education in Educational Administration from Texas State University and is certified in Texas as a superintendent, principal and teacher. He is an active member of the Texas Association of School Administrators and serves on the organization’s legislative advocacy committee.
Mr. Motal and his wife, Anjie, have two children, Emma and Ben, and enjoy staying involved in youth activities and athletics within the Liberty Hill community.
A Message from Mr. Motal
I am personally and professionally excited to become the superintendent of Liberty Hill ISD. Over the last seven years in LHISD, transitioning from principal, to director, to chief and now superintendent has been one of the most rewarding and challenging experiences in my career. I have been able to learn and grow from every interaction I have had with students, staff, parents and the community. One common theme throughout all of these interactions has been the desire for our district to be full of Champions! We all want the same outcome… great schools for our students to be the best versions of themselves, a top-of-the-line district for our community that builds future-ready graduates, and a place where families can say their child became a champion in the areas that interest them most.
I appreciate all of the positive energy and encouragement to be great in this role. I am thankful for the support of the Board of Trustees, staff and parents as we work together for our students. I am confident we will continue to work together to make Liberty Hill ISD an amazing place where our students and staff thrive.
My wife, Anjie, is a long-term public educator and instructional coach, so we are “all in” for public schools. My daughter, Emma, will be entering her senior year next year and is looking forward to her next steps at college and beyond. My son, Ben, is an avid athlete and gamer who will start middle school in Liberty Hill this fall. Our family is excited about growing roots in our community for many years ahead.
