LSLAC Committee
Liberty Hill ISD School Library Advisory Committee (SLAC)
The Liberty Hill Independent School District Local School Library Advisory Committee (SLAC) is a group established and appointed by the Board of Trustees to assist the District in ensuring that school libraries maintain strong collections that support student achievement, meet applicable state standards, and reflect local community values. The SLAC provides recommendations to the District regarding the addition and removal of library materials, including donated materials, as well as changes to policies, procedures, or guidelines related to the District’s library collection. The SLAC is composed of seven voting members, who are parents or guardians of students enrolled in the District, and fewer than seven non-voting members, who are District employees. The SLAC meets at least twice each year and works collaboratively with librarians and District staff. This process promotes transparency, parent and community involvement, and the development of a strong library program that supports student achievement while fostering a lifelong appreciation and love of reading.
