LHISD District of Innovation Plan

On May 16, 2022, the LHISD Board of Trustees approved the renewal of our District of Innovation Plan to provide the district with local control and flexibility which will benefit our students, staff, and community.  Liberty Hill ISD has had a District of Innovation Plan since the 2017-18 school year.

House Bill (HB) 1842, passed during the 84th Legislative Session, permits Texas public school districts to become Districts of Innovation and to obtain an exemption from certain provisions of the Texas Education Code. To qualify, an eligible school district must adopt a five-year innovation plan according to the Texas Education Code. This bill allows traditional public schools to have some of the same local flexibility that public charter schools have always been allowed.

As part of this renewal process, our District Education Improvement Committee (DEIC) met, reviewed our district's innovation plan, and approved the renewal of the plan. Please click on the LHISD District of Innovation Plan for specific details. Additionally, we had posted the renewed District of Innovation Plan on our website for at least 30 days prior to the Board's adoption of the plan. The final step in the process is a notification to TEA of the adoption of the plan which we have provided.

Once received by the Commissioner of Education, this readopted plan will go into effect for the 2022-23 school year. This plan may be amended at any time by the committee with the approval of the Board of Trustees and will remain in effect for five years.
